Daddy's girl

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”-Marianne Williamson

"A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous."-Coco Chanel

I would like to think we all have a dad in our life somewhere.  Maybe he might not have been there for you or you may not know him or he might have even not been your real dad, but nevertheless one existed.  Even if none of the above may pertain to you we still have our Almighty Father.  I bring this up to talk to my women today. Don't worry guys.  If you are a dad or in a relationship,  this may help you in finding clarity on what to look for in a mate. I know that is not easy for anyone in life, let alone being a woman. When I look at my example of a woman,  the first one that comes to mind is Kayla.  She's my little lady.  They tell you when you become a dad, your whole life changes. FYI... It did. Lol.  I look at how little boys be around her trying their best to get her attention.  I'm ready to kill them all. I had a conversation with a good friend of mine today about her education and how education is period nowadays, and it made me think of what I want to teach her on becoming a lady. To expand that thought, I wondered what could I teach women about being a lady of God.  For the record,  I understand that I'm not a woman. I am just guy giving a perspective on how a lady can be a woman of God, so please show a little leeway on me.

So what does it take to be a classy lady? First off,  what is your description of a lady?  If you can,  take a minute to describe yourself in detail.  What do you see? Most bible thumpers would say a proverbs 31 woman,  and they would be right.  But let's expand on that.  To me, saying that is like my parents telling me that I need to go to college, and when I got there,  I had no clue what I was suppose to be doing there besides going because they told me to.  What does it say about the role of a woman?  The bible reads that one of a woman's roles is to be a helpmeet. A helpmeet,  is someone who is there to play a supporting role in another's life.  No.  It does not mean that you have to be submissive and that's it.  It pertains to key parts to of a whole.  For instance,  take a jobs of a restaurant.  A host is just as important as a cook, who is just as important as a server and so on.  Their job may not be intensive, but the necessity is there.

"Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman."-Coco Chanel

We truly are what we choose to show the world. When I looked at that quote, I was put in mind to our demeanor and how we carry ourselves. Another trait of a classy lady is one who's transparent.  What I mean is a person who has no reason to feel like her actions need to be hidden. I'm not saying tell everybody that you been getting it in everyday,  but someone who can be an example of a good woman but not hiding her flaws to make her look better.  We are all human. We are not perfect.  I say to all of you,  "Everything great is not perfect (pertaining to our daily lives), everything perfect is not always great. (except with God of course)" Does that mean that you can go do hood rat things work your friends?  No.  Heck no!  But what it means is that no one can teach you how to be you,  so go out and be the best you that you can be. Some ways to find out about you are being real to yourself. it's your body; your mind. No one knows you better than you except God.

This is just a snippet of a long journey.  Please take this with your head held high. Be the one in the poem of Robert Frost "The road not taken" that took the unbeaten path until it's clear for others to see His glory.

1 Timothy 2:9-10New Living Translation (NLT)

9 And I want women to be modest in their appearance.[a] They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. 10 For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do.

To Be Worthy

Today I was thinking about each person's worth and plans for their lives that are around me. It's still amazing to this day that no matter how old a person gets or how many opportunities come their way, they can still find a reason why they can't do something. I remember a long time ago, my good friend Francis told me that he'd rather have a person give 110% effort than a person who had 110% of the potential. So when you think about your worth how do you measure it? Is it by your potential? To me, potential is like having a brand new car with all the packages but not the keys. So today lets see how do we make use of ourselves.

“Sometimes the hardest part of the journey is believing you're worthy of the trip.”
― Glenn BeckThe Christmas Sweater
“It is difficult to make a man miserable while he feels worthy of himself and claims kindred to the great God who made him.”
― Abraham Lincoln

In 2 Corinthians 12:10, it talks about how even in our weakest moments we are strong. Sounds crazy right? I mean how can we be strong in our weakest moments?
We can because of God himself made you and he loves you. Too simple of an answer? I will put it together for you. Take a baby for instance. They are helpless and completely dependent on their parents, but with the love of their parents they move forward and grow into beautiful people. A couple of fun facts about these same babies:

1. Babies naturally hold their breath under water and at the same time their heart rates slow down, helping to conserve oxygen, and blood circulates through the most vital organs.
2. Babies gain knowledge at a staggering rate. By 3 their brain forms 1,000 trillion connections.
3. Babies beyond cute. (no jokes please. Trust me. I have them too.) They are so fragile and codependent that they were created to be cute to the point of having the inate sense to help them.

Amazing right? Not so helpless now are they? But the point to be made here is that there is always strength where there is weakness and vice versa. With God in our lives, there isn't  anything that can't be achieved. We have it in us and He is there for us. Now lets take that knowledge and look at potential. Potential in so many words is basically stored energy. Potential, like energy, is nothing until it is used. Imagine a plug in your house. There's energy there but until its given a use, like for a lamp to light the house, it does nothing. How are you using your inner energy?

“It is true that God may have called you to be exactly where you are. But, it is absolutely vital to grasp that he didn’t call you there so you could settle in and live your life in comfort and superficial peace.”
― Francis Chan, Forgotten God: Reversing Our Tragic Neglect of the Holy Spirit

We've discussed ability. Now lets discuss worth and work. Like faith, potential is nothing without work. Your worth is easiest seen through your works, not to say that you do not have worth if you don't have work to show. So we need to look like our potential. Not just have it. Be productive and make use of yourself. My best quote that I tell people at work and friends is that "No one can teach you how to be you." So go be the best you possible.

...I don't have to worry about not meeting His expectations. God will ensure my success in accordance with His plan, not mine.”
― Francis Chan, Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God

“Christians today like to play it safe. We want to put ourselves in situations where we are safe 'even if there is no God.' But if we truly desire to please God, we cannot live that way.”
― Francis Chan, Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God

Now lets put it together with God in mind. He made us with the capability to love and be fulfilled through Him, but we constantly show it as only wasted potential. We all want the most out of life. What better way to get the most out of it than through God? To all my down and outs out there, know that we are somebody. We are loved and we are important. GO OUT AND BE THE BEST YOU.

My Brother's Keeper

“Religion is a guy in church thinking about fishing.

Spirituality is a guy out fishing thinking about God.” ~ John Fischer

Hopefully I haven't lost my followers in my absence, but I'm here to let you know I'm back. Over the past couple of weeks, I have had a chance to really get to be involved with my brother and what's going on with him. MAN!!! Drama central. LOL. But let me stop exaggerating. He has hit an obstacle in his life. He has to become the next level of a man and it's not easy. Nothing life worth anything ever is. In this journey, he has rededicated himself to God. I am very proud of him for that, but it doesn't come without it's headaches. I mean dang! It's like I am talking to a brick wall. I sit and wonder how in the world am I going to get through to him? Some days I wonder if I should even try. Am I my brother's keeper?

Many people ask this same question. So.... What are we suppose to do? The original context comes from the story of Cain and Abel. In that story Cain and Abel were both trying to be in God's glory but in the end Cain killed Abel because of God's denial of Cain's offering. (Ref. Genesis Ch. 4) In reading this he makes the famous quote of "Am I my brother's keeper?" when God asks Cain where Abel is. Well... Are we? We would think no because we can only control ourselves, but in turn thinking that way, we would not be living in God's way.

James 2:14-17(NIV)

Faith and Deeds

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

In James ch. 2, it highlights some of those answers of what to do. When we turn our backs to others, we sometimes display the action of faith without deeds. How can we wish them well, but do nothing to help? Does that mean to do everything for them? No. They in turn still have to do work in the same respect. So where does that lead us? It leads us to the bracelet. WWJD (What would Jesus Do?) We are asked to be Fishers and Sheppards amongst men, and women.  Do we remember the old saying, "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink?" Old sayings are relevant because they hold some truths. It's basically saying  to supply the knowledge and open arms to anyone who wants to receive God's glory and blessing (e.g. His works through you), but you can't force something into someone.

So where does this leave us in this story? For me, my brother is asking my advice and I in turn will do my best to be a guide through God. When we are strategically place in life by God, lets not block our blessings to others. Give freely and in return you will be rewarded. You have the perfect playbook. The Bible. Following God is not the easiest path all the time but the reward is worth the time and effort. Encourage not only questions, but the right questions to God when we are downtrodden. Be there for each other. When times are tough, keep your head up and trudge on. I believe in you and in God. May you have a blessed day and change a life today.

The Struggle..... Is Real!!!!

Well I woke up to get me a cold pop and then I thought somebody was barbequing. I said oh lord Jesus it’s a fire. Then I ran out, I didn’t grab no shoes or nothin’ Jesus, I ran for my life. And then the smoke got me, I got bronchitis ain’t nobody got time for that. - Sweet Brown

“Every worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph: a beginning, a struggle, and a victory.” ― Mahatma Gandhi

Last night, or better yet this morning, I had a long talk with my brother. He had come to help me move my car back to my house. Needless to say, following directions was never his strong point. LOL. Anyways, After we were done with the car, we started to head back to his car so he could go home. On the way, he told me about his struggles. MAN!!! To hear him tell of his struggles made me feel like he was sent off to war and was the only commando left. I shook my head and asked him, "What are you doing with yourself?" He continued to tell me about it and the more I listened, the more I got angry. I mean, I was pissed. I asked the question again, and once again he came up with another excuse. Finally I stopped him. I told him that I loved him and that I am not trying to tell him how to live but for him to see what's in front of him. You see, he was waiting for a break to happen for him. He was wanting something to happen in his life for him for his struggles to go away. I told him sternly that if you think like an ignorant person, you will live like one. I want to say that I'm about seven years older than him (I can't remember LOL) and said that I know what the next seven years of your life can look like and believe me, there aren't any breaks.

I tell this story to show a key thing in our lives. The struggle is real my friends. Life is full of options and free will. It was a great gift that God had given us to live in and like little kids, we destroy everything. With life comes choices. Here is a passage of the test and answers that Jesus went through:

Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted[a] by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’[b]
The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. If you worship me, it will all be yours.”
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’[c]
The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. 10 For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you carefully;
11 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[d]
12 Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[e]
13 When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.
After forty days and nights, Jesus was done fasting. Imagine one day without eating. Now forty. Harsh stuff huh? The devil then tried to give him a break by suggesting what to do with his ability. He declined it. He understood that any of the things that was offered him were not long term fixes. So why is it that we always look for the quick fix?

In this lesson I want you to dig deep and ask yourself if you are singing the woe is me song. Really understand that walking the path of Christianity is not an easy one but God's reward will be well worth it.

May the Faith be with you

"What you know about having faith in something you can't see? Tell me how much you believe? What you know about feeling something that you can't even touch? What you know about smelling something that you can't even breathe, but when the world drives you out, and your gas tank is on E, and all the faith that you have just ain't all the faith that you need. All the faith that I have, just ain't all the faith that I need...." - "Nothing is Stopping You" by Big Sean

Hey everyone. I know it's been a minute since you've read about my latest teachings, but right now I'm just going through a study that has gotten my attention. I'm learning about how to love God and I have really been on a humbling spree, so please forgive my absence. I hope all is well with you all and I hope that in the last lessons you've really had a chance to incorporate God in a new way towards your life. With that being said lets begin.

Happy Father's day to all my parents out there. I do not want to say dads because we all have a hand in raising our children as well as the children in our vicinity. I want to start by saying thank you God for what you have given me and for being a great dad in our lives. I wish that I listened sooner because you were right. As you read my quote I know it may sound crazy and confusing coming from a rapper, but I really loved that verse from him. "All the faith that you have, just ain't all the faith that you need..." Wow... Imagine believing in something. Now think about how much effort you put into it. How much faith do you believe that Santa Claus will give you the present you wanted? I'm still waiting on my Dodge Viper. We really don't believe that Santa is out there do we? Our faith in that is almost nonexistent. Now think about asking God for something. How much faith do you put into that? What if I told you that it's not enough? What if I told you that some of you put as much faith in God as you do Santa? Does that tick you off? Well just really look at yourself. You don't have to tell anyone this response. Just yourself. What do you really see? Do you feel like God has truly made a way for you? Do you feel like you really believe in Him? Do you really feel like you give one hundred percent to Him?

I don't feel I did. I will tell you that I personally feel that I am not there in my faith at that point. I really had to finally open my eyes and see the mess I made of my life. I believed that God existed. Never doubted that, but I can't say that I really honestly felt that God will fix everything. I wanted to take things into my own hands. I got this. No I don't. I don't have this. I am even more helpless by saying that. My tank was on "Spiritual E" or empty. It seems like we all ride like that nowadays in our own cars. LOL. But why? Is it because we feel like the prices are too high? Or is it because we only want to do enough to get by?

Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--

Matthew 17:20 He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. "

I remember my mom always teaching us, Tuajana and I, that no matter what you do, be the best. Even if it's being a janitor or a garbage man. Be the best. Oh man! School was like that too for her. (Maybe it's that Asian thing LOL) In school, you had to strive for perfection. No C's. No B's. Not even a 95%. A and 100%, sometimes 105% if there was a bonus question. I remember the first C I had to bring home. I was scared to death. My mom was going to have her fury on that behind when she got home. Mr. Antone had called her to schedule an appointment to meet with her about it. I remember seeing other kids so happy with a C. They were smiling and talking about the Jordans that were promised to them, but not I. I was going to feel the wrath of the ninja assassin. He told my mom that he didn't know what was going on with me and that it wasn't like me to do that. Just great. Thanks Mr. Hershel Antone. We got home and it was Switch City. I can still feel those whelps across my legs. I was punished severely for what I did. On top of that, no TV for a month. To fast forward all of that, I thought I was slick about watching TV but I got caught every time and every time I got my tail whooped. But when I got older, I realized something. I was punished because I didn't give 100%. I tried to get by. I wanted to live like everybody else, but do I really want to be like everybody else? God's chosen are few, but not because he doesn't love everybody. It's because of our faith in following Him. Most of us are not trying to give all of us to Him. We want to give just enough for us so we don't feel bad. Well that's not enough.

Now I don't want you to think that I am on a judging spree because I'm not. I am not God nor do I possess the power of telepathy. Only you know what you do, but what I will say is that we have to live life by 100% in Him. It's not easy, but then again, anything worth having isn't going to just be given to you like an entitlement. I want you to read these words and feel the joy of wanting to do better. It's father's day and He is our ultimate father. He gave us life. He showed us grace. He showed us how to love. Oh my God. What an amazing father! I want to wake up now to tell Him thank you. I want to honor Him like he deserves. I want to be a cheerful giver in my love and faith to Him. I don't want to come to Him only when I need something, like we do our fathers. I WANT TO GIVE MY ALL. Have a great day everyone. Thank you for joining me in this journey and the patience you all have with my absence.

I did my best..... I think....

Hebrews 12:14 Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

Proverbs 10:4-5 A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame

A lot of times in my life I wonder if I was good enough. I was never naturally talented in sports. I was never good at video games. I was NEVER any good at being smooth with the ladies lol. On a more serious note, I thought I was never good for God. I would make up excuses all the time on why I wasn't and when I would be able to be in his grace. That time never really came until I started to understand why I said those things. I was ashamed. I was ashamed like Adam and Eve. Through my life I disobeyed God constantly. And on top of that, found comfort in the conviction. The thing that I didn't see was God's graciousness. He still blessed me even though a lot of times I was undeserving. Now as you read this I may lose some of you. What I like to write about is how Christianity and life are hand in hand. The same works that you see in the bible can easily be applied to your everyday life. How many times do we tell ourselves (never anybody else) that we are not good enough for (fill in the blank)? Who said you weren't?

Colossians 3:23-24 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

If you asked those questions, you need to know a key component in the answers. Everything has a purpose. A purpose will dictate the outcome. When I was not naturally talented in sports, I practiced and worked diligently to make myself better. My purpose was to become a better athlete and not let my restrictions hold me back. I wasn't the tallest. I wasn't the fastest. But I was determined. No one could say I didn't do my best. When I do God's work, no one can say I am not doing my best. If you view the way love is, love is open-ended. It's ongoing. There's always more to do. When God works in us, it's through love and it's ongoing. So when you work in his light, you can never go wrong. If you have even just started in your faith, you're still doing your best.

I want you today to say to yourself, I will do my best. I will not forget that as long as I'm with you God, I can go wrong. In You my Lord, I will do my best.

Stay Blessed.

Love, Peace, and Sooooooouuuuuullll

“Let the first act of every morning be to make the following resolve for the day:

- I shall not fear anyone on Earth.
- I shall fear only God.
- I shall not bear ill will toward anyone.
- I shall not submit to injustice from anyone.
- I shall conquer untruth by truth. And in resisting untruth, I shall put up with all suffering.”
― Mahatma Gandhi

"I'm Don Cornelius, and as always in parting, we wish you love, peace and soul!"- Don Cornelius

Love and Peace is more than a phrase said in the 60's and 70's. It's a phrase that's throughout the bible. I was reading this unique chapter of the bible and the subject matter of it caught my attention. The title read "What Christians Should Do. Living the New Life." Amazing I thought. I finally found a "How to" book. LOL Sort of. It was Colossians Chap. 3. The verse that stood out the most was:

15 And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always].

What it was saying is that Christians should live in peace. It doesn't mean that suddenly all differences of opinion are eliminated, but it does require that loving Christians work together despite their differences. Please be inclined to read the whole chapter. Verse 13:

13 Be gentle and forbearing with one another and, if one has a difference (a grievance or complaint) against another, readily pardoning each other; even as the Lord has [freely] forgiven you, so must you also [forgive].

States that the key to forgiving others is remembering how much God has forgiven you. Let God worry about the wrongs you suffered. My constant phrase whenever I am team building or teaching is that we need to be effective also. Not just right. When you are going through your trials and tribulations, we need a team. God, Jesus, and you are a great team, but also understand that God has also put other teammates for you out there to get the win. Not all teams work out in the beginning, but all have the ability to be champions. Every component is important.

Without peace in your own heart, you can never grow to become anything more than what you are then. You cannot truly love without peace. You cannot move on when you are stuck on what angered you. There is no place in the Kingdom of God for hedonistic sexual experimentation or for gossip, rage, and back-biting. All those things cause a stir within you as well as a in your Christianity. Think of it as the story of the mosquito. In this story, the mosquito tells a lie which sets off a series of cause and effect events that affect all of the other animal characters in the story. The animals are each called in turn to tell their side of the story to the Lion until he learns that the problem can be traced back to the mosquito. In the end, the mosquito dies trying to spread gossip to a farmer who smacks him. Gossip cause distractions. God is in reference to the farmer. He was there to bring it to an end.

So we look at the title of my story and see the it is love, peace, and soul. We need to love one another in order to find peace to save our spirit (soul) from not reaching the Kingdom of heaven. I thought it was a big thing to hear Don say that catchphrase. Lets move forward in our lives and not become stagnant in hatred and animosities. If we cannot not love each other, how can we fully understand how God can love us.

Stay blessed.

My Favorite Thing

"Most people don't care what happens, as long as they get to do their favorite thing. People don't even want to back off from their favorite thing. They won't even do their second favorite thing. You ever seen somebody in trouble... He's in the right lane. And there's a lot of cars , like 6th avenue. A lot of cars. And he wants to make that left. So what does he do? He just does it anyway. He goes at it. He shoves his car through everybody's life.Without any... And everybody's honking and outraged. And you always see the guy go, "I have to. I have to.There's no other possible thing I can do.What else could I do? Except go up one more block, and take a left and take four seconds. That's not my favorite way, though! That only meets 99% of my criteria."- Louis CK

Growing up we always loved to do our favorite thing. We feel like we are committing blasphemy if we do anything other than that. Even if it only takes one more move or one more second. Amazing isn't it? We feel as if we shouldn't have to compromise what we want to do just because........ We never have a believable answer for that. It seem like life has a different answer for us. Life is filled with compromise. When you marry. When you have a roommate. When you have siblings. Like I said, everywhere. Even in eternal life. Now I know I sound crazy to say that their is compromise in order to get to heaven, but let me explain. God has done all he can to give us the ability to live in heaven with Him. He has put rules in place and a way to live on earth in order to get us there. He has given us His son, Jesus Christ. He's done it all. Now what have we've done? We always try to come up with ways to live how we seem fit. We get caught up in our lives, we forget to live in his image. "But that would mean we couldn't do our favorite thing!" What favorite thing? He's not asking much from us. "But he takes forever to give answers!" Let me show you why.

2 Peter ch.3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

2 Peter ch. 3:15 Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him.

I remember hearing on the radio one day the most insightful story I could ever hear. Once there was a Pastor of a church and up to him came an atheist. The atheist laughed at him and said, "You are a fool to believe that there is a God and Heaven. Let me ask you this. What if you are wrong?" The pastor shook his head and answered, "Well then... What a life to have lived? God has taught us to love and how to be fruitful. My life would be full of enrichment and joy. My life would've been lived to the fullest." And the atheist was paused. "And now I ask you," the pastor said, "What if you're wrong?" Crazy right? Francis Chan quoted it best when he said to not be scared of people who can only kill your flesh, but to be scared of the One who can kill you and send you to Hell.

Now to bring it all together. God isn't asking us to quit living. He is asking us to live right. There are things we do that we should change and we know it. Don't sacrifice eternal life for your favorite thing on Earth. You'd be surprise how little that favorite thing is. We all have vices, but with knowledge of them, we cannot allow ignorance. Don't take Jesus's power lightly. It's not walking on water or striking you down as his ultimate power. When we are in front of God and Jesus washes his hands of us and says he does not know us. Think about that. That's also true in life moments too. When you are troubled with someone, the worst thing you can do is wash your hands of them. Think about that as you go through you day and live. Happy Living to you all.

Old and New

"Faith does not make things easy... It makes them possible."- Paraphrased Luke 1:37

I remember when I was three we had this church in the back of the our pastor's house. It was a trailer with 20 seats in it. Very old school. We were trying to get enough money to get a bigger church and all. (That good ol' building fund) The daycare was his house. We tore that place up. LOL. He didn't mind. He asked us to go ahead and clean it up when we are through. Our parents worked diligently to make the church better. And amazing it was. We moved from the country back woods to the middle of the city. The journey was needed as the church grew bigger. Our pastor, Pastor Jin, knew we needed more stability so that we could reach out to our church members better. There in lays our start of our Korean International Baptist Church. They were pushed to make a way for them to head towards God's path. Now, 28 years later, it seems like a funny imagination. So what was happening at that time? My mom was a 36-ish year old Korean Lady who had lived in the US for about 9 years. She was a former believer in Buddhism, but found God. I in turn grew up in a christian home and so has our generations to come.

We created a christian heritage in our family from there. Always blessed even in our worse hours. We've seen joy. We've seen pain. All in all, we've been through something. Now that we paved the road, what's next? Refer to 2 Kings Chapter 2 & 5. Also Psalm 127. It's not an easy road, but we still have to keep moving on. Let us never forget where we came from. We came from His image and love.

1 Thessalonians 5:11-Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

Who am I

I'd rather be relevant than incognito,
I'd rather be corrected than stroke my ego,
Flying high as an eagle but still need the wind beneath my wings,
If anyone ever wanted to,
They could ask me why the caged bird sings,
Feeling as if the world was on my back and shoulders,
The older I get, it seems as if the world gets colder,
It's funny to think that especially when we talk of the world going to hell,
But I cannot deal in negativity and downfalls because that would mean that I failed,
So who am i,
Maybe I might ever know,  through the rain, sleet, hail or snow,
There can be times where I want to hide but I can never forget that there is always time to grow,
I am not just your typical, average, run of the mill type of person,
I am that guy who shines even when my times worsen,
What I give to you is an open mind to a closed world we live in,
I just hope that I'm not too late before it all comes to an end

Wisdom

"Never argue with ignorance. They will make you step down to their level and beat you with experience."- Unknown

Common sense seems to be more of a rarity than common. It's seems like it's so lost in translation that it has become more of a second language. What does it mean to be a know it all versus having wisdom?
Proverbs 26:4 "Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him." The ones we hear the most are not always the most knowledgeable. In this verse, it talks about arguing with a fool. The fool has no thought to his antics. He is only led by mostly arrogance and ignorance. So why even entertain them with an answer? If we choose to go along with them, we look just like them. What is better? A quick answer, or the right answer? A wise man studies to answer, but a fool blurts out whatever comes to mind. Train your ears and mouth to appreciate studied answers.

A friend once told me that if you are the smartest person in the room, then you need to change your circle of friends because you will not learn anything. I totally understand that saying. When you are not learning, you are not living. When you are not living, you are dying. Once we can understand that, we can really start to live. Now to dig deeper into that statement, which life are you trying to live? If you choose to have eternal life, we have to gain knowledge of Christ and his teachings. If you choose to only learn the way of the world, then your life will end with it. Think about that.

Matthew 12:37 "For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned." Be careful what you say. Words can heal as well as hurt anything in it's path. It has no bias. Allow yourself to speak angrily, and you will say the greatest thing you will ever regret. Speak with meaning and compassion, and depth and compassion will be reciprocated. One of my most favorite sayings is, "It's hard to be deep in shallow waters." So when we talk to others, let us think to ourselves how
can I benefit that person with the knowledge that I have to offer? (And to be more specific, the knowledge of Christ." I hope that you enjoy this as much as I have and good teaching to you all.
